A woman in her 70s who was inside the house and the motorist, a man in his 40s, were rushed to hospital with serious injuries after the horror crash in Peterborough
A shocking new picture shows rubble strewn outside a home after a car smashed into a pensioner’s home – leaving two people seriously injured.
Residents living nearby described scenes of “chaos” after a vehicle ploughed into the property in Peterborough at around 6pm on Sunday evening.
A blue Ford Mondeo hit the front of the home after colliding with stationary vehicles parked along the street. A woman in her 70s, who was inside the house, and the motorist, a man in his 40s, were rushed to hospital serious injuries.
Greg Hilliam, a resident living close by, described scenes of “chaos” as emergency services turned up. He told Cambridgeshire Live: “I didn’t hear a thing, the only thing I heard was the sirens.

“I looked out of the window and thought what the hell is going on? My first thought was also how did it get to this state? However, cars do bomb down here. I’ve been here for 39 years and nothing like that has happened.”
Another neighbour, who didn’t want to be named, said his family were woken by the “commotion”. He said: “My sister said people were gawping. The car came through the [house’s] hedge].” He also praised another neighbour who ran over to help, calling them a “hero”.
Another man described hearing “lots of sirens” as emergency services descended, and said: “I didn’t think anything of it but then my wife look out of the window. We saw one car on its side and another flipped over. I thought someone may be seriously hurt. If so, I hope they are ok.”
One neighbouring described returning home to the scene as “scary” and “wondered what had happened”.
A cordon remained in place at the scene on Monday as police continued their investigation. A statement from Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision in Paston Ridings yesterday.
“A blue Ford Mondeo was driving along the residential road when it crashed into a house and stationary vehicles at about 6pm. Police and paramedics attended and the driver, a 40-year-old man from Peterborough, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
“A 70-year-old woman, who was inside the house at the time, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries. Officers are appealing for information and dashcam footage from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the vehicle in the time leading up to it.”
