Brooklyn Beckham is reportedly under the thumb and known as ‘the hostage’ in his marriage to Nicola Peltz as insiders share what Victoria and David really think of their son’s wife
The entire Beckham family has long understood the fact that Brooklyn Beckham cannot stand being on camera. He avoids it whenever possible – except for his cooking segments, according to sources. Despite growing up surrounded by flashing lights and fame, with both David and Victoria posing on global stages for decades, their eldest son has never been keen to join the spectacle.
And yet, a new video has surfaced – Brooklyn, 26, revving a motorbike alongside wife Nicola Peltz, 30, in Beverly Hills – marking a bold public declaration about their love. More than just a romantic joyride, this post is widely seen as Brooklyn throwing his full support behind Nicola amid the ongoing family tensions with the Beckhams.
Sources close to David and Victoria suggest their frustration is now largely directed at their daughter-in-law. Accompanying the video, Brooklyn captioned: “My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you’re the most amazing person I know xx me and you forever baby.”
The message appears to be unmistakably pointed at his family feud. The clip is the first public move either Brooklyn or Nicola has made in relation to the very visible divide within the Beckham family.
Earlier this month, the pair were noticeably absent from David’s grand 50th birthday celebrations, snubbing the event entirely – a move that reportedly left the Beckhams not only hurt, but also deeply alarmed.
Those close to the family have now claimed that David and Victoria’s eldest son is being ‘held hostage’ by his wife. “Brooklyn is now being referred to as ‘the hostage.’ He is in a situation where those who love Brooklyn fear that he is being controlled by Nicola and it is heartbreaking,” one insider told Mail Online.
They continued: “Videos like this are just not what he does. He will be dying inside. He’s soppy and he’s a romantic, but that video just isn’t him. He hates all of that stuff so you have to wonder if Nicola was behind it.”
According to sources, David and Victoria, now 51, have effectively washed their hands of Nicola following what they see as endless tension and detachment since her and Brooklyn’s £3 million wedding in April 2022 at her family’s $76 million Palm Beach estate.
Repeated absences and missed family events have pushed the couple to the conclusion that they are now estranged from their eldest son. Brooklyn and Nicola skipped not just David’s birthday bash, but a series of family moments including a relaxed gathering at the Beckhams’ Cotswolds retreat, a holiday in France, a dinner at upscale London restaurant Core, and even a fishing trip in the Highlands with David and brothers Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 19.
Brooklyn also failed to attend a pre-birthday party in Miami at Cipriani in March. His social circle has shifted too as he was once close to Gordon Ramsay’s son Jack and Rocco Ritchie, son of director Guy Ritchie. However, Brooklyn no longer spends time with them either according to reports.
Perhaps most hurtful of all was this week’s missed opportunity when Brooklyn and Nicola flew into London for a Moncler fashion shoot – just a couple of miles from the Beckhams’ residence in Holland Park.
Nicola, though absent from the shoot’s location, revealed her involvement online, while Brooklyn was spotted posing with a bike in a sleek off-white Moncler coat. The post made its way online just hours before David appeared at the Chelsea Flower Show, and it was through Nicola’s social media that he learned they were in the country.
By Tuesday morning, the couple had already returned to Los Angeles, having made zero contact with anyone from Brooklyn’s family.
Brooklyn’s drifting relationship with Romeo is widely known but him avoiding his youngest sibling Harper has reportedly struck a painful chord with the family.
In the early days of their relationship, Nicola shared countless sweet posts with Harper, calling her “my little sister” and featuring her often on TikTok and Instagram.
Elsewhere, just hours after Brooklyn’s Instagram declaration, Cruz appeared to respond in his own way, publicly showing his loyalty to their parents. “I love my family. I love you guys more than anything, mum and dad you gave us life and cared for us no matter what, I cannot tell you how blessed we are to have you in our lives,” he wrote.
An insider reflected on Brooklyn’s absence: “He and Cruz barely ever argued. And yet they haven’t seen each other in ages. You have to wonder if he isn’t allowed [to see him].”
They added: “And then there’s Harper. It’s absolutely heartbreaking that Brooklyn and Nicola didn’t even try to see her while they were in London. Nicola used to dote on her, posting about how much she adored Harper. Was it all just for image? Whatever the reason, excluding a young girl who’s done nothing wrong is just cruel.”
Their conclusion is that “there’s no way Brooklyn would willingly shut out his family like this. It just doesn’t add up.”
