O2, EE and Sky are among the providers offering up to £300 to switch

While Black Friday has been and gone for most shoppers, those looking to benefit from discounted broadband deals and switching incentives are still in luck – but with only a few days left in advertised sales, prices could increase in the coming days.

Shoppers can not only benefit from discounted broadband deals, but also from switching incentives, including up to £300 to cover the cost of moving to a new provider. But there are some conditions to be considered, so I’ve been investigating the latest broadband deals to pick out the best.

To make it easy to navigate these deals, I’ve broken them down so shoppers can see what they are getting. As O2 and Sky offer up to £200 for switchers and three month’s free, EE offers up to £300, and Plusnet and Three standout for their seperate pay-monthly prices.

Best for benefits – up to £200, O2 Priority, 3 months free

Virgin Media has an attractive deal for switchers, but there are only 2 days left to grab these deals. Firstly, shoppers should check if they have Virgin Fibre to their home as this is a separate network to others that run on BT Openreach.

There’s up to £200 switching fee for early contract termination, with the 24-month M125 package costing £22.99 a month, which is competitive. Currently, shoppers get 3 months free (a £68.97 saving), and thanks to the Virgin Media and O2 merger, customers also get access to O2 Priority for early ticket bookings and other benefits. There will be mid-contract price rises.

Best deal for those stuck in a contract

EE has the biggest budget to aid switchers, offering up to £300 when switching, but note that this is to pay early termination fees – not a cash incentive. That means that those stuck in an expensive deal can switch and save, even before the end of their existing contract.

EE is still offering Black Friday prices, with Full Fibre 100 from £26.99 a month on a 24-month contract on its 100Mbps service. There are annual price increases, and customers are advised to check the coverage area to see what speeds are available – although many EE packages are pretty expensive compared to other suppliers.

Best deal for cheap broadband and cash in hand

Three is offering ‘unlimited data’ broadband from £21 a month on a 24-month plan with average speeds of 150Mbps. There’s up to £100 available to claim when shoppers send in their last bill from their old provider, as well as a £50 prepaid Mastercard to spend on anything – so that’s up to £150 for switching.

There’s a catch: this isn’t wired broadband, it’s a 4G and 5G wireless service, so shoppers will want to check that they have good Three connectivity before switching. While the cash incentives are appealing, the service might not suit everyone. There are annual price rises on the contract.

Best for customer service

Plusnet is regularly awarded for its customer service and satisfaction, while being the more affordable arm of BT and EE. The Black Friday deals are now finished, where the company was offering reward cards to switchers, so now it’s just slightly more affordable broadband.

Plusnet does not offer to pay switching fees, unlike the others on this list, instead offering Full Fibre from £23.99 a month. That is on a 24-month contract with annual price increases.

Best for bundling with a TV package

Sky’s Black Friday discounts have ended, so its service looks a little more expensive than others, with Full Fibre 150Mbps from £27 a month, which I’d choose over the £26 a month 100Mbps service. Sky is also offering up to £200 to switch, but again, this is to pay for early termination fees, so it’s not cash in switcher’s pockets.

Customers interested in Sky TV might be better with a bundle, where Essential TV – with Sky Stream and Netflix – paired with Full Fibre 150Mbps is £35 a month. That means the TV package (normally £15), is only an extra £8 a month. All the deals are on a 24-month contract and Sky doesn’t advertise price increases, instead offering shoppers the chance to leave if prices do change.
