Loughton Tyres, based in Essex, entered liquidation earlier this month – the firm has been trading since 1987 and has dozens of five-star reviews on Google

A tyre garage in the UK has been plunged into liquidation after being in business since 1987.

Loughton Tyres, based in Essex, appointed liquidators earlier this month according to a notice in the London Gazette.

The car tyre garage was first registered back in December 1987 and has built a strong reputation in the local community. The company boasts dozens of five-star reviews on Google, with customers heaping praise on the firm for its outstanding service.

Resolutions to wind up the business took effect on April 2, with creditors notified and liquidators appointed on the same day. The London Gazette published the notice on the evening of April 15, with Ninos Koumettou and Constantinos Pedhiou named as joint liquidators. It remains unclear at this stage how many jobs could be at risk as a result, reports the Express.

Among the five-star reviews on Google, Kate Nelson said: “I was lucky, thought I had a puncture because of a nail in tyre but didn’t. The guys were super helpful and polite from my initial call to getting the nail out. Def recommend.”

Florence Georgiou explained: “Took my car here recently and everyone was so honest and genuine. It’s difficult to find a place with good people but these guys were great, would recommend to anyone.”

Kevin Cook wrote: “Top tyre shop. Really look after their regular customers. Lost a tyre to one of the many local pot holes last week when leaving home early for a job in Tunbridge Wells.

“They opened their doors a little earlier than normal to get me sorted and back on the road. Will only ever use them for tyres.”

On its website, Loughton Tyres said it provides “high-quality tyres at a price you can afford”, promising customers “won’t be disappointed” while taking pride in delivering a “great friendly service”.
