A 15-year-old has been charged following a stabbing at a Nottingham school which saw the school get put into lockdown.
Nottingham University Academy of Science and Technology (NUAST) was put on lockdown earlier this week as police raced to reports of a knife attack at the school on Thursday (5 March).
A 15 year old boy was rushed to hospital with a stab wound. Two knives were seized and an arrest was made at the scene.
The 15-year-old boy who was arrested has since been charged with committing grievous bodily harm and two counts of possession of a knife on school premises, Nottinghamshire Police said on Sunday (March 8) evening.
He will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday (9 March).
Police also confirmed that the teenage victim is still in hospital and in a statement said: “Whilst his injuries are not currently thought to be life-threatening, he remains in hospital.”
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Berryman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This incident has understandably been deeply upsetting for students, teachers and the wider school community.
“We are grateful for the support of the school and community during our investigation.”
