A body has been found on a slip road after police received reports of a man in distress on an M4 footbridge.
South Wales Police rushed to the motorway near Junction 36 shortly before 9:30pm on Saturday. Once at the scene, officers found the body of a man aged 24 on the slip road nearby.
Paramedics from South Wales Ambulance Service also attended the scene and attempted resuscitation, but the man was pronounced dead. He was identified as being from Litchard, Bridgend. His family confirmed his identity and are now receiving support from specialist officers, Wales Online reported.
A spokesperson from South Wales Police said: “Officers were called to the M4 footbridge near Junction 36 shortly before 9:30pm on Saturday December 6 following a report of a man in distress. The body of a man was located on the slip road nearby upon emergency services arrival.
“Ambulance unsuccessfully attempted resuscitation. The motorway was briefly closed in both directions to allow for police and CSI attendance.
“The man has been identified as a 24-year-old man from Litchard, Bridgend. His family are aware and have confirmed ID, and are being supported.”
