“A huge thank you to our team members for their efforts, as well as partner agencies who assisted during the search. The team finally stood down in the early hours, with many volunteers heading straight back to their day jobs.
“Our team of volunteers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days responding to those in need throughout Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham & parts of Conwy and Powys.” The Berwyn Mountains are a well known hiking spot in Wales and are popular with visitors coming from all over the UK to walk across the range.
Visitors to the area are advised to be well prepared as there will be lengthy instances where they may not see another person. Mobile phone coverage is limited in the area.
There are some 24 peaks that exceed 600 metres (1,968 feet) with several different trails available for walkers.
