People are rushing to B&M to get their hands on £5 plants to brighten up their gardens ready for summer – as shoppers comment on how expensive plants have become in other stores
Shoppers are rushing to B&M after spotting flowers that people say “explode with colour and growth” on sale for just £5 – and some claim they’re just as good as ones costing four times the price. The bargain buy has been doing the rounds online after one shopper compared the budget blooms to more expensive garden centre options.
They said: “£20 garden centre roses vs £5 B&M ones. Same thing, just cheaper. I bought one last year and it has exploded with growth. Bargain shrub roses for a fiver!”
The post quickly caught attention, with other gardeners sharing their own success stories after picking up the discounted plants.
One TikTok user said: “Yeah, a few of mine in my garden were from there last year.”
Another added: “Thanks. I needed to see this. I nearly picked one up today but wasn’t sure about the quality. Will be going back tomorrow.”
And a third simply wrote: “Gorgeous.”
With spring in full swing, shoppers are now heading back into stores to snap up the budget-friendly roses before they sell out – especially as more people look for affordable ways to brighten up their gardens without splashing out.
But the flowers aren’t the only thing catching customers’ attention.
A steel pergola priced at just £150 has also been labelled a must-have buy, with shoppers praising it as a stylish way to upgrade their outdoor space without breaking the bank.
Measuring 2.9 x 2.9 x 2.2 metres, it’s significantly cheaper than similar options on the market, with alternatives at places like B&Q reaching up to £400, while The Range stocks versions costing over £500.
According to B&M, the pergola is “perfect for creating a cosy oasis” in your garden.
Built with a sturdy steel frame, it’s designed to be durable and easy to assemble, making it a practical long-term addition.
One of its standout features is the retractable canopy, which can be adjusted depending on the weather – offering shade from strong sun or full coverage during unexpected spring showers.
Whether it’s placed over a patio set or used as a centrepiece for barbecues and summer evenings, shoppers say it’s an easy way to transform any outdoor space – without the hefty price tag.
