A B&M mug has been recalled over a potential risk of the base breaking when filled with hot liquid, which could lead to serious burns, as customers were urged to return the product immediately
B&M has recalled a festive favourite from its shelves following the discovery of a potential burning hazard.
The retail giant, which operates more than 750 outlets across the UK, is recalling its Cream and Green Mug due to a “potential risk of the base breaking”.
Authorities at the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) have also issued a statement regarding the recall, warning that the item “presents a risk of burns as the base may crack and break when filled with hot liquid”.
The alert continued: “The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.”
The mug carries the product code 42491 and is described as a “cream mug with green fir tree print”. B&M’s faulty stock was sold in branches nationwide from August 23 through to November 14.

The OPSS has urged customers to “stop using the product immediately,” and take the item back to any B&M outlet for a full refund.
B&M has echoed this warning, with the retailer encouraging anyone with queries about the recall to ring its customer service team on 0330 838 9000, reports Birmingham Live.
This latest recall follows another incident just months ago when B&M was compelled to remove a different mug from sale over similar concerns about a potentially fragile base.
The company’s Harvest Print Glass Mug was subject to a recall notice in September, with officials describing the action as a “precautionary measure”.
The announcement stated: “As a precautionary measure we are recalling the Harvest Print Glass Mug due to the potential risk of the base breaking when filled with hot water.
“Any customer who has purchased the product is advised to retain the packaging and return the product to a BandM store where you will receive a full refund.”
B&M added: “Please note the product went on sale in stores 21/07/25.”
The statement continued: “If you have any questions, please contact Customer Services 0330 838 9000. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
