Huge clouds of black smoke were seen rising over Blackburn, Lancashire, after a large fire broke out at a bus station used by hundreds of passengers, as streets nearby were closed
A burning bus at a busy station has caused the evacuation and closure of surrounding streets by emergency services.
Videos from the scene in Blackburn, Lancashire, show the double decker vehicle well alight in the car park, with plumes of black smoke being sent into the blue skies. Several surrounding streets have been closed as crews fight the flames. It is unknown what caused the blaze.
A spokesman for Blackburn Police said: “Officers are on scene at Blackburn Bus Station assisting our colleagues from the fire service with an incident.
“Railway Road leading to the station and surrounding streets have been closed. Please plan your route accordingly to avoid the area.”
The bus can be seen parked close by to several others at the bus station in the town centre.
Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council posted online: “Please avoid the area around Blackburn bus station.”
