- As Easter approaches, a bin collector with an online following has shared crucial recycling tips to help Brits avoid bin collection disasters. Ashley, known as @Theno1.binman on TikTok, recently posted a viral clip breaking down exactly how to dispose of Easter egg packaging correctly.
- The waste collector warned that making mistakes could result in contaminated bins being ignored on collection day. “I have gone beyond, absolutely beyond, my bin duties to give you the correct bin-formation about Easter coming up,” Ashley explained in his video.
- Cardboard Easter egg boxes should go in paper and cardboard recycling bins. Clean foil wrapping can be recycled in plastic bins, but dirty foil with chocolate residue must go in the general waste.
- Chocolate bar wrappers from Easter treats typically can’t be recycled because they’re made from mixed or “soft” plastics. These should go straight into the general waste bins.
- Any leftover chocolate should be placed in food waste bins where available. Ashley warned that incorrect disposal could lead to entire bin collections being classed as contaminated.
