It takes way longer than necessary and more often than not requires a good few attempts to get up the entire root, preventing it from coming back. Not to mention it usually requires us to be on our hands and knees, thus flaring up back issues.
But one solution to this is a weeding gadget that has been hailed as the ‘best garden tool ever’ by shoppers, making this problem easier on the joints and actually seems to tackle weeds on the first go. The Ohuhu Weed Puller on Amazon typically costs £26.99 but it’s now on sale for a limited time at £19.97.
It requires little to no bending down as it’s to be used standing up and features a steel claw at its end, which is to be plunged into the centre of the weed. The manual weed-removing tool is built with a reinforced lightweight aluminium alloy shaft, making it lightweight to lift, and its reinforced foot pedal helps users tackle weeds in tough, dry soil.
One the claw it in the grounds, users then need to twist the gadget’s hand grip to remove it, before pressing down the lever at the top to release the weed. While it’s ideal for most weeds, it’s important to note that Amazon does recommend avoiding weeds in gravel. It’s also probably not suitable for patio weeds – for this, a tool like the Hawksmoor Garden Tool Patio Weeder, £4.99, may be best.
It’s fitted with an L-shaped head that makes it a perfect fit between paving slabs and other tight cracks. Although for garden weeds, Screwfix offers a similar claw design in its Gardena Weed Puller with Release Mechanism, which costs £39.99 and is fitted with a pull-to-release mechanism and similar steel jaws.

The Ohuhu Weed Puller from Amazon has been praised by shoppers as being the ‘best’ garden tool for weeding.
Although the Ohuhu Weed Puller has been a hit with garden fans, with one person hailing it as a ‘Weed killer at its best’. They added: “The perfect solution to get you the perfect lawn. Easy to use. Value for money. Just fill the holes. Feels strong to me.”
With an average 4.3-star rating, someone else raved: “This is the perfect tool for anyone with back problems. No bending, easy to use, cannot express how wonderful it is. Does perfectly what it says. It leaves a hole, but that is easily sorted. For me The Perfect Tool!”
Another user went as far as to say: “I have fallen in love with weeding thanks to this tool!! So easy to operate and totally uproot weeds . It’s a quick and perfect way to get rid of weeds. Very well made and thoughtful design.”
One issue that some people encountered, however, was that the device didn’t come with any instructions, which isn’t the most helpful, with one four-star review reading: ” I did not receive any instructions, and you must be careful that you use it correctly as it is not particularly robust. However, when you are familiar with it, it works very well. Certainly takes the back-breaking aspect out of weeding your lawn.”
Others found that it left relatively large holes where the weed once was (which is to be expected). Just add soil and grass seed to cover this up. That said, most people have been left pleasantly surprised with this gadget, with one person noting: “This device is great for removing Dandelions from lawns.”
