As the weather warms up we’re all on the lookout for a lightweight alternative to our usual foundation. Rather than going bare-faced, we love using a glow-boosting base products that helps smooth and blur skin whilst also leaving you looking radiant and hydrated – perfect for that dewy, sun-kissed look.
One of the best-loved multi-tasking products around is Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter, £39 here, which is considered a makeup essential for celebrities and makeup artists alike. However, if your budget can’t quite stretch to the lauded Charlotte Tilbury version, some beauty fans think they’ve found a budget-friendly alternative thanks to Rimmel’s Multi-Tasker Better Than Filters, £10.39 here (was £13).
Just like CT’s celeb-approved one, the Rimmel Better Than Filters is a three-in-one product that can be used as a primer, glow-booster and a highlighter all at once to give a your-skin-but-better finish. You can use it on its own to create a soft, blurred finish, mix it with your favourite foundation to get a glowy look, wear underneath your foundation for more of a lit-from-within glow, or wear it on top of your makeup to highlight areas like your cheekbones and browbones.
It also contains light-reflecting pigments that give you a smooth, softly-lit glow that leaves your skin looking like you’re wearing an Instagram filter in real life. It has a lightweight formula that’s super easy to blend, and it boasts an ingredients list that cares for your skin while you wear it, with vitamins C and E leaving your skin feeling nourished and revitalised whilst improving your natural skin’s appearance in four weeks.
One beauty fan posted a video raving about the new Rimmel product, saying: “I am obsessed ok?? I have been using the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood flawless filter for literally six years. And there has never been a product I loved as much on the market.. until now.
“What Charlotte Tilbury HFF does (blurs, primes, gives a subtle glow, enhances the appearance of your skin subtly, but noticeably.. all at the same time..) is now available for a THIRD of the price… because @rimmellondon “multi-tasker better than filters” does the exact same thing… and I actually prefer the formula, which in my opinion is easier to blend and feels like buttery perfection.
“I still have to see how it performs under foundation and test its longevity but… I AM SO IMPRESSED… for £12.99 ..i will be making the switch “
Others also gave it a glowing review, writing: “I absolutely love this product it literally makes your skin glow. You can wear it how you please it makes a nice light foundation but it also makes a great highlighter. I can’t rate this product enough.”
Another said: “Love this product, I usually use Flawless Filter but I’d say this is just as good It blends into my skin lovely and although looks glittery in the bottle it isn’t noticed directly onto the skin.”
Whilst a third wrote: “Love the applicator for this. I got send a shade which is perhaps a shade too dark for my skin but when blended it was seamless and just looked like a bronze holiday glow. The finish was amazing and definitely something to try much cheaper than CT.”
If you do prefer more of a foundation-style formula, Makeup Revolution IRL Filter Longwear Foundation, £6.99 here (was £9.99), has a slightly fuller-coverage finish, whilst still giving you the same glow-infused finish without breaking the bank.
