A ‘beautiful’ man has tragically died after an early hours attack outside a Salford pub where he was “kicked and punched”.
Ben Wright has been named as the victim following incident near Dessie’s Place on Liverpool Road in Cadishead at around 2.40am on Sunday morning.
Police and paramedics were called following an ‘altercation’ involving ‘several men’. Mr Wright sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital after being ‘punched and kicked to the head’.
He was receiving treatment in hospital with his condition critical on Tuesday morning but he was tragically pronounced dead hours later.
Tributes have flooded in online, describing him as a ‘beautiful human being’ who will ‘never be forgotten’ and a ‘kind-hearted soul who will never be forgotten’. It’s understood Ben’s organs are to be donated to save the lives of others, reported the Manchester Evening News.
Dessie’s Place, near to where the attack was reported, also posted a heartfelt statement, which read: “It’s with heavy hearts we share the sad news that our dear friend Ben has passed away. Ben wasn’t just someone who worked with us he was part of our family.
“He loved the pub, the people in it, and all the regulars who walked through those doors. He was one of us… not just a regular, but one of the best and everybody new and loved him.
“His smile, his laugh, and his presence brought so much life into the place, and it simply won’t be the same without him. We will miss him more than words can ever say, and he will never ever be forgotten. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family at this incredibly difficult time and we’re sending love right to you.”
Relative Kasey Payne wrote in a public post: “I miss you Uncle Ben. I will always love you and you will never know how much we all loved you. My hero. My best friend. My brother.”
In a post on Facebook, Jade Steer wrote: “R.I.P you absolute beautiful human being! I’m Sorry I couldn’t do more that night to help you! You were loved by so many and you WILL NEVER EVER be forgotten.” As Natasha Collins shared: “Heavy hearts tonight you didn’t deserve this big Ben RIP. I may not have seen you for a while but you never failed to make everyone around you smile.”
Band NXMAD wrote: “Ben was a kind hearted soul who was always ready to help those closest to him with advice, a kind word, drinks or comfort. Ben was always there offering support to us and many bands within the local scene.
“We recorded our first two records in his house whilst in between takes he would play his acoustic guitar and make us all laugh with stories of his latest mischievous adventures. He was a deeply intelligent and talented person and had an infectious grin which never failed to make us smile. It’s so hard to believe we wont see that again.”
Following the attack, a cordon was put in place around Dessie’s Place pub. Three men, all aged in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault but were later bailed pending further enquiries.
