The six-day-old baby was left injured as the mother described the attack as ‘the worst pain she had ever experienced’

A six-day-old baby was left with a head wound after being bitten and clawed by three vicious Staffordshire Bull Terriers. The pack of dogs mauled the tot’s mother as she carried the baby leaving her needing multiple operations and skin grafts. She revealed it was “the worst pain” she had ever experienced.

Jason Stafford, 49, was the owner of the three dogs that got out of control and latched onto the mum’s feet and wrist during the horrific attack in Cardiff, WalesOnline reports.

A sentencing hearing at Newport Crown Court on Tuesday heard the attack took place on March 30 when the dogs set upon the victim as she was carrying her six-day-old baby in her arms. One dog went for the mother and bit her foot and locked on. In his sentencing remarks, Judge Daniel Williams said the pain felt by the victim was “the worst she’d ever experienced”.

The judge added: “I’ve seen the photographs, which are dreadful.” The mother was dragged to the floor with the baby still in her arms before being attacked for what she believed to be 15 minutes. Judge Williams said: “She thought they were going to be killed.”

A friend heard the woman’s screams and saw one of the dogs had latched on to her wrist. He managed to get the dogs off of her and she left the area with her baby.

But the three dogs continued to attack the friend and one of them latched on to his left arm and right leg. The attack again lasted for around 15 minutes, but the victim said it “felt like forever”.

Eventually, Stafford was able to pacify the dogs but the injuries sustained by the victims were described as “appalling”. The three Staffordshire Bull Terriers have been destroyed as a result of the incident.
