Access audiobooks on your phone or Kindle, with hundreds of thousands to choose from
Not everyone has the time or inclination to sit down and read, with many choosing to listen to books instead. That’s where Audible comes in, the audiobook service from Amazon that’s currently offering 3 months access for 99p a month.
That’s a huge £24 saving off the cost of the service for 3 months, giving customers plenty of time to sample what the service has to offer.
That includes access to the Stranger Things novel One Way or Another, building on the Stranger Things universe and set between the action of Season 4 and Season 5 of the hit Netflix series.

Audible is a service run by Amazon that sits outside the regular Prime subscription that many shoppers use to get cheap online delivery. The audiobook app provides access to over 800,000 books, so rather than read, users can listen instead.
That’s great for those commuting or driving who would rather listen to a book than listen to music. Best of all, Audible is available through apps on iPhone or Android, it’s accessible through Kindle via Bluetooth headphones, it can be accessed through a browser as well as via Echo speakers.

Audible gives access to thousands of titles on phone, Kindle or Echo, with this deal providing 3 months access for 99p
Aside from getting a Stranger Things fix – while you wait for the rest of Season 5 to drop – it’s also home to an exclusive new Harry Potter series, using a full cast reading rather than just having one narrator. That sees stars like Bill Nighy, Mackenzie Crook, Hugh Laurie and Keira Knightley providing the voices for the famous characters.
Audible normally costs £8.99 a month on the Premium Plus service, and shoppers taking up the deal will enjoy 3 months at 99p a month before it reverts to the normal price. Alternatively, Audible offers a £5.99 a month subscription, although that only allows access to one book a month.
The discounted trial means there’s a chance to sample the service and decide whether it’s something worth subscribing to full-time. This is a limited offer, with the deal ending on 16 December, so it’s a great chance to experience an audiobook or two over the Christmas period.
While the subscription will let customers “borrow” audiobooks for listening, it also grants subscribers credits towards buying audiobooks, too, if they have a Premium Plus subscription.
That’s where some of Amazon’s clever tech comes into action, with Whispersync for voice able to synchronise an audiobook and a Kindle book if you own both. That will allow seamless switching between reading and listening, which is great for commuters.
Audible dominates the audiobook market online, but it’s not the only source: many local libraries will also offer an audiobook borrowing service via the Libby app, if you’re a member of the local council library.
Another way to get Stranger Things is to stream the series (obviously) and for those without a Netflix account, the streaming site can be accessed for free for Virgin Media or Sky users.
Stranger Things season five can be streamed exclusively on Netflix, which typically charges £5.99 per month for its basic plan. However, Sky is currently offering a free Netflix subscription as part of its Essential TV bundle.
Virgin Media is also offering free Netflix subscriptions with its own TV and broadband deals, which are free for the first three months. This includes the £29.99 Gig1 Fibre Broadband option – delivering speeds of 1,130Mbps – and the £36.99 Entertainment bundle.
