Sainsbury’s Nectar has announced a new partnership
One major perk of shopping at certain supermarkets is the chance to accumulate points, access personalised discounts and claim coupons.
Sainsbury’s Nectar is one of the most widely used schemes and Britain’s biggest coalition loyalty programme.
Nectar members can rack up points on their purchases, unlock exclusive ‘Nectar Prices’ reductions at Sainsbury’s, and redeem their points in-store to slash their shopping bill.
Shoppers collect one point for every £1 spent in-store or online, with points able to be converted at 500 points for £2.50.
The points work at Sainsbury’s, Argos, and various other partners, and from today (April 9), members can now spend them on Uber and Uber Eats.
Nectar has unveiled a partnership with Uber, allowing you to transform your accumulated points into journeys to visit friends or food deliveries from your go-to local restaurants.
With Uber now part of Nectar’s network of over 500 leading brand partners, there’s an entirely fresh reward option available. The collaboration marks Nectar’s first venture with a ride-hailing service, offering members greater flexibility.
To spend your Nectar points on Uber, open the Nectar app and select how many points you’d like to allocate to Uber – ranging from 500 to 4,000 points at a time (equivalent to £2.50 to £20).
Mark Given, Sainsbury’s chief technology, marketing and data officer, said: “We’re giving people more ways to enjoy the value they get from Nectar, making everyday moments more rewarding.
“Being able to use Nectar points on Uber rides or an Uber Eats treat is something we know people will love, because it fits so easily into everyday life. It’s an exciting first for us too, as our only ridehailing partner.”
Katie Hunter, head of grocery and retail at Uber Eats, said: “Nectar has built a deep connection with British households, and we are so pleased to become their first-ever ride-hailing and delivery partner.
“By integrating our services, we’re providing Nectar’s loyal members with even more flexibility in how they spend their rewards, whether that’s a reliable ride home or a favourite meal delivered to their door, making daily life just that bit more seamless.”
With over 24 million members, Nectar’s loyalty scheme allows shoppers to accumulate and redeem points across some of Britain’s biggest and most well-known brands, among them Sainsbury’s, Argos, Esso and British Airways.
