Andrew Tate was beaten by Chase DeMoor last weekend and has addressed rumours he could now take on Jake Paul
Notorious influencer Andrew Tate has backtracked on his desire to take on Jake Paul in the ring, but that’s not to say he is retiring from the sport. Tate stepped into the boxing world last weekend, only to be defeated by Misfits heavyweight champ Chase DeMoor in Dubai.
The former combat sports star seemed to run out of steam in the latter half of the bout, losing on two judges’ scorecards while the third declared it a draw. Post-defeat, Tate has been flirting with the idea of retiring after just one fight.
He also appears to have changed his mind about taking on Paul, who himself suffered his second career defeat at the hands of Anthony Joshua in Miami the same night. Reacting to a post on X that suggested fans were keen to see him square off against Paul, Tate, a former kickboxer, responded: “I’m not ready for Jake. Time is the fire in which we all burn. Fighting is for young men.”
However, this wasn’t always his stance. Back in 2024, Tate and Paul even had a mock face-off in the ring, with Tate confident about taking on the YouTube sensation.
Tate disclosed that he and Paul had been discussing a potential match before he was arrested on suspicion of alleged human trafficking and rape. “There was a time when he and I were talking about fighting,” Tate said.

“I think if this arrest didn’t happen, it probably would have come to flourish. We will see what happens in the future, we will see perhaps.
“It’s possible, there’s nothing no, there’s nothing yes. We will see, I will skip this matrix attack and perhaps if he needs to be taught a lesson, I will be the guy to teach him.”
Speaking about Paul’s victory over Mike Tyson in November 2024, Tate continued: “Jake’s an okay guy. He’s putting boxing on the map to be fair to him. To be fair to the guy, he can sell tickets.
“I mean nobody, and this is with all due respect, should give a s*** about watching a 60-year-old fight a 27-year-old, but Jake can make them care. And, because he can make them care, he gets paid more than most boxers will ever make in their entire careers for one fight.”
Paul, though, reckons he’d flatten Tate should they ever square off in the ring. Before Tate’s loss to DeMoor, Paul said: “I would win very, very quickly. I’m excited to see his fight; he’s been out of the ring for a long time.”
Back in 2022, the internet star claimed Tate was too frightened to face either him or his sibling Logan. He said: “I don’t think he ever gets into the ring and risks his alpha male appearance to fight me or Logan. Andrew Tate, you’re scared to get into the ring with one of us.”
Following his defeat to DeMoor, Tate was non-committal about the prospect of retirement. He said: “If the stars align, yeah I’m not saying I’ll retire. But I think a lot of people make hasty decisions, you know, after losing a fight in front of the world.
“Their egos are hurt, their emotions are high, etcetera. I try to stay quite temperate so right now, go home, chill, relax. I have four of my beautiful children waiting for me at home. Play with the kids, maybe count my money to feel better – it’s high. And by the time that’s done, my eye will be healed and we’ll see.”
