Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on his 66th birthday amid mounting questions over his relationship and correspondence with the late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein

Stunning images have been released after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested at Sandringham this morning in what is one of the most dramatic events in the royal family’s history.

Thames Valley Police arrived at the royal residence and apprehended the former Duke of York on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The arrest concerns correspondence between the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and Andrew during his time as trade envoy.

Andrew has strongly and consistently denied any wrongdoing regarding his friendship with Epstein. In a shocking twist, it emerged King Charles was not notified in advance of the arrest.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” King Charles III said. “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”

Despite the arrest both the King and Queen Camilla carried out royal duties today. King Charles made an appearance at the London Fashion Week opening while Camilla visited the Sinfonia Smith Square Hall, where she is patron.
