“I’ve used so many different hayfever tablets over the years, but these are by far the best. Noticeable differences to your standard off the shelf products.”
The warmer weather has been a welcome change for many, but with it comes the annual reminder that hayfever can ruin a day out. Many of us find ourselves searching for tissues and allergy tablets that actually make a difference.
Over on Amazon, the prescription strength Allevia is now reduced, usually costing £11.89 for a packet of 30 one-a-day tablets. It’s now dropped down to £7.46. Allevia is a fexofenadine based allergy tablet that can be taken to provide 24-hour relief for hayfever, mould spore, dust mite and pet allergies.
In England, fexofenadine is the number one oral antihistamine prescribed by GPs, and it’s clear that allergy sufferers swear by it. The tablets have pulled in an impressive 6,963 five-star ratings.

One shopper said: “These are the best hayfever tablets I’ve taken. They worked quickly and provide relief within half an hour. I purchased on offer so they were great value for money especially compared to our local shop.”
A second penned: “I suffer from hayfever almost year round and it’s been getting more severe. Loratidine and cetirizine worked but only up to a point and I was still dealing with streaming eyes, sinus pain and headaches.
“And then a friend told me these were now available over the counter and perhaps it was worth trying them. Oh my… I started them over the Easter weekend in case they made me drowsy, but honestly, they made a positive difference from day one. I hadn’t realised how much my hay fever was affecting my general well being until these cleared my symptoms. In two months, I’ve had one day where my sinuses were painful – a very hot and still day, instead of this being a regular thing. Reading and hobbies are easier and I’m sleeping better.”
Allevia is available in a 30 pack on Amazon for £7.47 or the same packet can be picked up at Boots for £12.49. Other options to help with symptoms include nasal sprays like Pirinase Hayfever Relief for adults at £8.85 as well as eye drops like Optrex Hayfever Relief drops for £6.49.
Another Allevia user wrote: “I’ve used so many different hayfever tablets over the years, but these are by far the best. Noticeable differences to your standard off the shelf products like Piriteze and Clarityn.”
While more than 70% of Amazon shoppers insist these are a perfect five-stars, not everyone had such a good time. One shopper said: “Worked quickly and stopped my itching eyes caused by birch tree pollen, but gave me one of the worst headaches ever!
“That lasted for over 12 hours, so I won’t take this again. Do read the PIL (Patient Information Leaflet) as headache is one of many possible side effects.”
