Budget-friendly supermarket chain Aldi is known and loved for Specialbuy deals which take pride of place in its middle aisle and are usually released every Thursday and Sunday
Aldi is set to launch a new Specialbuy next week as part of another of its beloved baby events – and it’s ideal for parents eager to keep babies cool this summer.
The UK has experienced record-breaking temperatures in recent months, with the scorching heat dominating the season for many parts of the nation. While adults have struggled to cope and cool down, for babies, heatwaves can be especially challenging. The NHS warns “babies and young children can become ill during very hot weather”, with their health potentially “seriously affected” by dehydration, sunburn, heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
With that in mind, many parents are keen to find solutions to help their children stay comfortable and healthy in the heat – and Aldi may have the answer.
The popular supermarket chain is known and loved for its budget-friendly essentials and lifestyle products. Founded in 1961 in Germany, it has amassed a legion of loyal customers across the globe, eager to snap up its extensive range of food, homeware and household items, as well as its own versions of high end or luxury items.
It’s famed for its Specialbuy deals, which take pride of place in Aldi’s middle aisle and are usually released every Thursday and Sunday.
Products included in the bi-weekly roundup offer everything from homeware and gym equipment to baby products, hot tubs and more.
From Thursday (July 23), the hit retailer will be selling the Nuby Rapid Cool Duo Pack, priced at £24.99, described as a “travel friendly” twin pack which fits “into most changing bags with ease and requires no power supply”.
Aldi describes the product as “ideal whether you’re feeding during the day or the night” and highlights its “super quick and super silent” features.
It explains: “RapidCool prepares bottles fast, without a sound, perfect both day and night”, providing parents with “perfect temperature formula milk in only two minutes”.
The product is available in blue, pink or neutral designs and is “easy to set up, easy to clean” and “no replacement filters are required”.
In accordance with NHS guidelines, using “freshly boiled water to prepare bottle feeds” is advised.
As with all Specialbuy products, items are only available “while stocks last” and quantity may vary from store to store.
Aldi is popular on social media and operates main accounts across multiple platforms, as well as dedicated Specialbuys profiles, where the “middle aisle” is regularly spotlighted to the masses.
Keeping babies cool in the heat
If you’re concerned about your baby in the summer, the NHS advises: “Babies under 6 months old should be kept out of direct sunlight. Older babies should also be kept out of the sun as much as possible, particularly in the summer and between 11am and 3pm, when the sun is at its strongest.
It recommends choosing lightweight clothing for babies to wear while avoiding too many layers.
If you go out in the sun, be sure to add “a parasol or sunshade to your baby’s pushchair to keep them out of direct sunlight” but it warns not to cover their pushchair or pram “with a blanket because it could lead to overheating”.
Parents should check on babies “regularly to make sure they’re not getting too hot”. If they’re over six months old, regularly apply sunscreen containing both UVA and UVB protection.
