The winter weather has got us ditching nights out in the rain for cosy nights in, and there’s no better addition to your plans than a tasty hot chocolate. If you want to step up your hot chocolate game this winter, then a hot chocolate maker is the way to go.
But rather than splurging on a pricey trending one like Hotel Chocolat’s Velvetiser (£149.95) or Smeg’s Multi Milk Frother (£179.95), you might want to head over to Aldi’s middle aisle this weekend instead. From Sunday 7 December you’ll be able to snap up the new Hot Chocolate Maker for just £24.99 – a huge £154.01 saving compared to Smeg’s, or £124.96 compared to the Velvetiser.

Aldi’s Hot Chocolate Maker was a sell-out sensation last year, and this year it’s been given an update with a chic design that rivals high end versions like Smeg’s. It features a square body with a contrasting black dial on the front and a stainless steel saucepan on the top.
The compact design makes it perfect for smaller kitchens and won’t take up too much space in your cupboards, but still has a large 450ml capacity. It comes with two pre-programmed settings to customise your drinks, including warming and frothing milk – just like Smeg’s version does. It’s even dishwasher safe, making it easy to clean up after you’ve whipped up your hot chocolates.
You can also pick from either black or cream colourways for a timeless design that’ll suit everyone’s kitchen. As with all of Aldi’s Specialbuys, once the Hot Chocolate Maker is sold out then it’s gone for another year, so if you do want to nab one for your next night in you’ll have to be quick.
For other affordable picks, Dunelm’s Milk Frother with 4 Functions is £30 and can be used to make everything from hot chocolates to lattes and cappuccinos. Meanwhile the Dualit Milk Frother & Hot Chocolate Maker is £79.99 and comes in two colours, silver and copper, which are selling fast according to the Selfridges website.
This week the Aldi middle aisle will also be stocked with other kitchen gadgets, including kettles, toasters and an espresso maker for just £49.99. You’ll also be able to pick up a £39.99 stand mixer just in time for whipping up batches of Christmas cookies or getting stuck into making your Christmas cake.
