Aldi is recalling Gianni’s Cheeky Monkey Ice Cream after it was found to contain undeclared wheat (gluten) that is not listed on the label, in an alert issued under the Food Standards Agency
Aldi has issued an urgent “do not eat” warning for one of its own private-label ice creams as the supermarket giant scrambles to pull it from shelves.
The allergy alert states: “Aldi is recalling Gianni’s Cheeky Monkey Ice Cream because it contains undeclared wheat (gluten) which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat (gluten).”
The affected product has a best-before date of August 14, 2027.

Aldi is urging consumers who have bought the ice cream and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten not to eat it, but to return it to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund.
The discount retailer said the alert applies to stores in England, Scotland and Wales, and apologised that the product did not meet its “normal high standards”.
The alert comes under the Food Standards Agency (FSA), which is the UK government body responsible for protecting public health in relation to food.
The FSA issues allergy alerts when a product presents a risk due to missing or incorrect allergen labelling or any other food allergy hazard.
