Aldi shoppers could save a small fortune
Aldi customers might not be aware they can secure a shopping haul from the supermarket for just under a third of the usual cost.
The discount chain teamed up with Too Good To Go back in 2023 and has been providing “magic bags” to shoppers ever since. These bags are packed with various grocery products nearing their sell-by or use-by dates at less than a third of the standard price, costing £3.30 each for at least £10 worth of provisions.
Aldi launched the initiative throughout all its UK outlets and has recently expanded the collection timeframe to make it “even easier” for customers to snap up some deals. Aldi Surprise Bags are now accessible on the app nearly 24 hours prior to collection, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
To obtain a Magic Bag, customers simply need to download the Too Good To Go app and locate their nearest Aldi branch, before booking a bag to pick up from the shop at a designated time. The bags comprise Aldi’s surplus stock, meaning availability is limited.
Shoppers can browse their local options on the Too Good to Go app from 10pm, for collection the next day. Aldi said: “Each Aldi x Too Good to Go Surprise Bag you get could contain anything from fruit & veg, to dairy products, meats and snacks, at a fraction of the retail price.”
Many customers have shared their discoveries on social media after purchasing the bags. In a Facebook group for Aldi fans, one member said: “Got lots of salad, bread and meat, have made sandwiches for the whole house and have frozen some of the meat for our tea tomorrow”.
Another shopper added: “Three course meal for me and the kids for £3.30” while a third shared: “Got some reduced salmon and other bits, made two meals out of it that can go in the freezer”.
