The easyJet flight took off from Manchester Airport and was bound for Copenhagen in Denmark – but a passenger emergency meant it had to divert to Newcastle
An easyJet flight from Manchester to Copenhagen has had to make an “urgent” diversion due to an incident onboard.
The low-cost flight took off just after 7pm as normal yesterday but an emergency was declared about 30 minutes later, according to data from Flight Radar. The Airbus A320, which can carry up to 180 passengers, had to divert to Newcastle as someone on board required “urgent medical attention”, the airline said.
Flight EZY2237 landed at Newcastle just after 8pm and the passenger was met by medical services on arrival. A spokesperson for easyJet told Manchester Evening News: “Flight EZY2237 from Manchester to Copenhagen yesterday diverted to Newcastle, due to a customer onboard requiring urgent medical attention.
“The customer was met by medical services on arrival and the flight continued to Copenhagen. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority.”
Once the passenger was handed to medics, the aircraft took off from Newcastle just before 10.15pm. It landed in the Danish capital an hour and 15 minutes later, at 12.30am local time today [11.30pm BST yesterday].
