Henry Nowak’s killer Vickrum Digwa is reportedly “shaking with fear” of being targeted by other inmates at the notorious “Monster Mansion” jail.
Digwa, 23, was locked up in County Durham’s HMP Frankland following his conviction over the murder of Southampton University student Henry. He will serve a minimum of 21 years and had spent weeks in segregation but has since been moved onto a prison wing, though he is under close supervision.
HMP Fankland, known as Monster Mansion, counts some of Britain’s most heinous criminals among its inmates, including Sarah Everard’s murderer Wayne Couzens and Millie Dowler killer Levi Bellfield. Digwa is said to be “terrified” that he could be attacked by one of the infamous killers.
A source reportedly told MailOnline: “Digwa arrived at Frankland terrified. I mean literally shaking. He was in total fear. There was none of that arrogance you saw on the police camera. I think he thought he wouldn’t survive the first night.”
Ex-prison governor Vanessa Frake-Harris said high profile inmates could become targeted by other prisoners. She told The Sun: “High-profile prisoners like Vickrum Digwa will always be targets. There are many in Frankland with nothing to lose but a lot of credibility to gain.
“His was a high-profile murder which angered society. This anger may well follow him into HMP Frankland.” Digwa fatally stabbed student Henry when they crossed paths in Southampton on December 3.
The killer used an eight-inch dagger to stab Henry twice in the chest and inflicted four further wounds, including two to the student’s back as he attempted to run away. Digwa then portrayed himself as the victim of a racist attack and did not tell police that he had just stabbed Henry.
Harrowing bodycam footage showed the moment Henry told officers he had been stabbed and that he could not breath. He died shortly afterward.
Digwa was convicted at Southampton Crown Court of murder and possessing a knife in public before he was jailed for life. His mum, Kiran Kaur, was also convicted after she hid the murder weapon at the family’s home.
Footage on Digwa’s phone showed the blade pointed at the ground as he spoke to Kaur, asking her to remove the blade from the scene. She is now serving her sentence at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey, where inmates include ex-nurse Lucy Letby.
