If you’re fed up of the slightly ashy white cast that many SPFs leave on your skin, then this Korean Beauty staple is a must-buy – and it’s now on sale for £12 for summer
There’s nothing more irritating than applying your SPF at the end of your skincare routine, only to find out it leaves a white cast on your skin. Although this can affect everyone, those with darker skin tones will typically see even more of an effect, and it can alter the way your foundation or skin tint looks when you apply it.
This usually occurs with mineral suncreams, which typically contain zinc oxide and other mineral filters which can leave a light residue on the skin, giving it that white sheen. Thankfully, beauty fans have shared that the Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ from Korean beauty brand Beauty of Joseon is not only non-sticky and non-greasy, but there’s no white cast in sight.

The Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ is suitable for all skin types, especially those with dry and sensitive skin, and although it has a lightweight feel, it still offers SPF 50+ PA defence to make sure your skin is well protected. It’s also full of ingredients that’ll nourish your skin, including sun rice and probiotics (if you hadn’t already guessed from the name) which give your skin a much needed boost with every wear.
The formula is what makes it regularly top the list of best sunscreens, with users praising it for how well it absorbs into your skin without leaving a greasy film on the top. It also leaves skin feeling hydrated and nourished, which is ideal if you’re spending long days in the sun.
Some other SPFs that are well-loved for their lack of white cast include the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Anti Dark-Spot Fluid SPF50+ which is great if pigmentation is a main concern. Not only does it protect your skin with a non-greasy feel, but it also minimises the appearance of dark spots and stops new ones from forming.

However, both of these are pricier than Beauty of Joseon’s Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics SPF50+, and it’s gotten rave reviews from shoppers. One said: “Best suncream I’ve tried. It’s not greasy, spreads easily, leaves no white cast, provides great protection, and keeps my skin feeling well moisturised.”
Another agreed: “Used 4 tubes at least so far. No white cast. No irritation in eyes. Sits nicely under makeup. Non sticky. Does not transfer on clothes. What else is needed. I have tried cheaper and expensive sunscreens, nothing works like this.”
However, like all skincare the Beauty of Joseon SPF won’t work for everyone, with one person disagreeing: “Been seeing this every where and thought I’d give it a go. It’s very light and cooling in the skin and not so shiny like others I have used as I have oily skin BUT for a dark skin girl it has a WHITE CAST hence the 3 star other thank that I quite like the matte finish.”
Another said: “Does not leave a white cast but I mistakenly bought this thinking it would sit nicely under my makeup, I was mistaken – it started pilling and looked awful. So keep this in mind.”
But others disagreed with this, too, saying: “Such a lovely SPF!! Sinks in super fast and gives a nice subtle glow. This sits extremely well under make-up and doesn’t cause any pilling. Really happy with this.”
