Shoppers can clean almost any room in their house with the upcoming SpecialBuy deal
A new household product is coming out in Lidl stores across the UK in a few days that “cleans, disinfects and degreases”. As part of the supermarket’s next round of SpecialBuy deals on Sunday, July 26, shoppers can get their hands on a kit that can help kill bacteria and lift mould around the house.
The budget supermarket is launching a range of new cleaning products on Sunday. One item is the Silvercrest Hand-Held Steam Cleaner, which will be on sale for £19.99. In addition to the cleaning gadget, it comes with seven extra accessories: an extension nozzle, an angled nozzle, an upholstery nozzle, a fabric cover, a round brush, an extension hose, and a measuring cup.
A portable steam cleaner typically uses high-pressure hot water vapour to break down grease, remove dirt, and disinfect surfaces without the need for harsh chemicals. It can be useful for tasks such as cleaning tile grout, removing stubborn oven grease, revitalising upholstery, and blasting dirt from narrow window tracks.
A steam cleaner can be handy to use when trying to remove mould from hard, non-porous surfaces. The high temperature, usually above 100°C, kills mould spores, and the pressurised steam forces dirt out of small spaces such as tile grout.
Lidl says the £19.99 steam cleaner “produces a powerful jet of steam for a deep clean” that “uses no chemicals or cleaning agents”. It adds how it can remove dirt “thoroughly”, even in “hard-to-reach areas”. The supermarket also says it is:
- For shiny taps, basins, mirrors and tiles.
- For refreshing upholstery and textiles.
- For all steam-resistant surfaces such as glass, ceramic, masonry, metal and enamel.
The steam cleaner has an “extra long” cable for use in a large area without unplugging (4m), as well as a “short” heat-up time of three minutes. It also has indicator lights, a safety lock, and overheat protection.
The “small, handy and easy to store” cleaner has a water tank capacity of 250ml, and the steam pressure is 2.8–3.5 bar. It comes with a three-year warranty, and its total size with the steam nozzle is 28cm wide, 23cm tall and 14cm long.
Steam can clean many things, but the high heat and moisture can harm certain materials. Avoid using a handheld steam cleaner on Unsealed wood or laminate floors, as moisture can cause warping. As well as delicate fabrics that are sensitive to heat, like silk or thin synthetics.
Other things to steer clear of include cold glass, as sudden temperature changes could cause it to shatter. Avoid using it on unpainted drywall or things painted with water-based paint.
Also coming out on Sunday is Lidl’s new £7.99 W5 Spray Mop, which the store says is ideal for tiles and all smooth floors. It adds: “With a detergent spray function – easy floor cleaning without a bucket. Ergonomic handle with an integrated lever for spraying detergent with ease.”
