A natural cleaning tool can shift even years of stubborn baked-on oven glass door stains in as little as 10 minutes, with no harsh chemicals required.
Oven doors are often one of the most frustrating parts of the kitchen to clean, but it appears there’s a “magic” technique to remove stains from the glass without relentless scrubbing. When oven windows aren’t cleaned regularly enough, food debris, oil and grease can become baked onto the glass, creating stubborn marks that are especially difficult to budge.
With this in mind, Melissa George, a cleaning enthusiast and founder of Polished Habitat, has shared that the most effective approach to banish oven stains involves using a natural product available at supermarkets – a magic eraser.
Melissa said, “Is your oven glass dirty? Try this simple and affordable tip for cleaning your oven window without spray chemicals.”
A magic eraser is a sponge made from melamine foam that acts as a gentle abrasive, able to lift stains simply by wiping across the surface, which means harsh chemical cleaners are completely unnecessary.
Melissa revealed she has a specific technique for getting the most out of the magic eraser, insisting it can tackle even long-standing oven stains, leaving the glass sparkling in no time at all.
She said, “Because we had years of gunk, including the brief but scary fire hitting the door, I did have to use some heavy pressure in places.”
But I didn’t use any chemicals or cleaners other than the magic eraser. And it only took 10 to 15 minutes of work.”
How to clean an oven glass door using magic erasers
To give your oven door a thorough clean, you’ll need two magic erasers — one dry and one slightly damp — to get to grips with those stubborn baked-on stains.
Melissa said, “I found alternating between wet and dry magic erasers worked the best to get rid of all the grime.
“If your oven is in anything near the code red situation mine was, you’re going to want two Magic Erasers for this job. Similar to a pencil eraser, they break down as you use them.”
Simply work the sponges gently across the dirty surface, alternating between the two as they gradually wear away.
It’s advisable to concentrate on one small section at a time, as scrubbing back and forth across a larger area will prove far less effective, since not enough pressure will be applied to the surface.
That said, within around 10 minutes, your oven door should be completely free of burn marks with very little effort needed.
