A man has died after a van plunged over a cliff at a popular seaside spot in East Sussex.
Police have descended on the town of Peacehaven in the Lewes district of East Sussex following reports of a vehicle going over a cliff there at about 4.30pm this afternoon.
A section of fencing along the top of the cliff has reportedly been destroyed, with an area near to Seaview Road in the town cordoned off by police.
In a statement police said: “Police received a report of a van going over the cliff edge at Peacehaven at about 4.30pm on Wednesday, 1 July.
“The van was located and the driver, a man who is yet to be formally identified, was sadly found deceased.
“Police are investigating the full circumstances of this tragic incident and the coroner’s officer has been informed.”
