A young girl has been rushed to hospital after being run over by an unattended vehicle in a tea room car park in Wirral.
Merseyside Police were called to the Mimosa Tea Garden on Green Lane in Eastham at around 3.50pm today (Saturday, June 20) after an unattended vehicle rolled over a four-year-old girl in the car park.
Emergency services raced to the scene and the child was transported to hospital for assessment, police confirmed. The owner of the vehicle remained at the scene and is currently assisting officers with their enquiries, reports the Liverpool Echo.
An investigation has been launched, and police are urging anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision involving a child at a car park in Eastham this afternoon, Saturday 20 June. At around 3.50pm we received a report that a four-year-old girl was injured following an unattended vehicle rolling over her in the car park of Mimosa Tea Garden on Green Lane.
“Emergency services attended and the child has been taken to hospital to be assessed. The owner of the vehicle remained at the scene and is helping police with their enquires.
“An investigation is underway, and we are appealing for anyone who saw the incident to please contact us.”
