A child has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car.
Emergency services were called to Huddersfield Road, Oldham at around 12.35pm on Saturday, May 23, following reports of a collision involving a car and a child. Greater Manchester Police confirmed the child was taken to hospital for treatment, while the driver remained at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.
The Manchester Evening News understands the child suffered serious injuries, although the full extent of their condition has not yet been confirmed. The circumstances leading up to the collision also remain unclear.
A large police cordon was put in place stretching from the Asda store on Huddersfield Road to Cypress Road as officers carried out investigations. The cordon has since been lifted, with police expected to obtain CCTV footage from the nearby supermarket as part of their enquiries.
No arrests have been made at this stage.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “At around 12.35pm today (Saturday May 23, 2026), officers responded to reports of an RTC between a car and a child.
“The child has been taken to hospital. The driver of the car remained at the scene to assist officers.
“No arrests have been made at this stage and investigations are ongoing.”
