Depending on where you fly from in the UK, the flight may only take just under an hour
Jet2 has today (May 7) announced two new routes to a ‘stunning’ island with ‘sandy beaches’, ‘aquamarine waters’, ‘cobbled streets’ and ‘rolling hills’. The new routes follow Jet2’s claims of continued customer demand and independent travel agents booking holidays for the short hop to the island.
Jet2 has confirmed significant expansion to its Jersey programme for summer 2027, by putting two new routes and additional capacity on sale, as well as extending the season. The airline has introduced flights and holidays from Birmingham and Bristol for Summer 2027.
In addition to the new routes, extra capacity to Jersey has been added from Manchester, and the summer season to the destination has been extended. It means Jet2 will operate to Jersey right through to the end of October.
With Jet2 already operating to Jersey from East Midlands, Leeds Bradford (exclusive route), Manchester and Newcastle International (exclusive route), today’s announcement means the company has flights and holidays on sale from six UK airports for Summer 2027, with two of these being exclusive routes. Jet2 says: “This offers holidaymakers even greater choice and flexibility when it comes to exploring the largest of the Channel Islands, as well as the opportunity to book ahead”.
The expansion means Jet2 will operate 15 weekly flights during peak periods, and it has almost 120,000 seats on sale between Jersey and the UK mainland for Summer 2027. Jet2 says all this has resulted in the airline and tour operator increasing its capacity to Jersey by over 140 per cent for Summer 2027 when compared to Summer 2026. The new routes and additional capacity being announced to Jersey for Summer 2027 are as follows:
- Birmingham Airport – three weekly services (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) operating from May 2 to October 10, 2027.
- Bristol Airport – two weekly services (Monday and Friday) operating from May 14 to October 11, 2027.
- Manchester Airport – three weekly services (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) operating from May 2 to October 31, 2027.
Describing Jersey, Jet2 says: “Sitting between Britain and France, just a short distance from the UK, Jersey offers aquamarine waters and vast stretches of white sand beaches. At just nine miles by five miles, Jersey is known as the ‘little island with the big spirit’.
“Its warm and sunny climate is ideal for those looking to pursue a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, kayaking and diving. Add to that castles, forts, museums, cobbled streets and rolling hills, Jersey offers holidaymakers everything they need for the perfect getaway.”
Jet2holidays customers can select from a range of three to five-star accommodation in the areas of Grouville, St Helier, St Brelade’s Bay, St Peter and St Aubin. Holidaymakers travelling to Jersey with Jet2 can choose from leisure flights with Jet2.com or ATOL-protected package holidays with Jet2holidays.
Jet2 says customers also have the opportunity to experience the “industry-leading customer service”, which has seen the brands be recognised by Which? Recommended Providers for eleven consecutive years. Jet2 says: “Customers travelling with Jet2.com receive that same industry leading customer service, friendly low fares, great flight times and 10kg hand luggage allowance.”
Recently, Jet2 confirmed it will not introduce surcharges on any booked flights or holidays to cover cost increases, for example jet fuel, assuring customers that the price they book with Jet2 is the price they will pay. In an industry-leading move, Jet2 confirmed that it has removed the surcharge provision across all flights and holidays, even though the company has never previously applied them.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are delighted to be significantly expanding our Jersey programme for Summer 2027, with a great choice of flights now departing from six UK airports as a result. Thanks to the addition of the new routes and the existing programme, we are offering fantastic choice to Jersey.
“Customers and independent travel agents are wanting to book ahead and get their summer holidays sorted and now we are giving them an even greater selection of destinations to choose from. With weekend and midweek flights available, customers have plenty of opportunity to visit the stunning island of Jersey with Jet2 in Summer 2027.”
Matt Thomas, Chief Executive of Ports of Jersey, said: “The growth that Jet2 has announced for 2027 demonstrates the growing confidence airlines have in Jersey. Increased capacity and a longer season delivers greater choice and improved connectivity. It’s a great boost for our tourism industry, making Jersey more accessible to key UK markets and providing more flexibility for Islanders.”
Tricia Warwick, Chief Executive of Visit Jersey, said: “Jet2’s expanded service and increased capacity for 2027 is a real vote of confidence in Jersey as a destination, and we are delighted for more visitors from across the UK to discover our island. Jersey has so much to offer, from our warm welcome and fascinating history to our stunning coastline, countless outdoor adventures, and vibrant dining scene.
“The addition of new routes from Birmingham and Bristol to Jersey, along with additional capacity and an extended season, is a great boost for the island’s visitor economy and local businesses. We look forward to continuing our work with Jet2 and Ports of Jersey, and to inspiring prospective visitors from these new markets to choose Jersey for their next getaway.”
