Shoppers have more options as part of the budget range
Primark has expanded its affordable range of Korean beauty products for shoppers who want to try trending skincare on a budget. New items have been appearing in stores and online for as little as £2.
Earlier this year, Primark launched a collection of ‘glass skin’ products that took inspiration from the growing trend of Korean skincare products outside of the country. The whole range is still available, but store bosses have recently updated the collection with a few more additions.
The new K-Beauty Gel Eye Patches come in packs of three for £2. The online description claims the undereye strips are “infused with revitalising niacinamide and Vitamin C”. The website adds: “They work to brighten tired-looking skin and give you a fresh, dewy glow.”
Primark bosses suggest the patches “feel incredibly cooling and soothing against the skin” and are ideal for “targeting dark circles and puffiness”. Using the product claims to leave the area around the eyes “looking well-rested – even when you’re not”.
Also new to the range are the £2.50 Brightening Face Toner Pads, available in packs of 20. These also contain niacinamide and must be bought in stores, as click and collect is not available.
What is niacinamide?
Niacinamide (also known as Vitamin B3) is a versatile skincare ingredient that is known for its skin barrier-strengthening properties. It is also documented to help balance oil production, minimise pore appearance, and reduce inflammation.
Beauty products often feature this ingredient to help hydrate skin, fade dark spots, and smooth fine lines. Specialists claim that it is generally gentle enough for daily use on all skin types, including sensitive skin.
Niacinamide also help to stimulate collagen production, which increases skin firmness and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Niacinamide is commonly found in a variety of Korean beauty products, according to Korean Skincare.
Why is Korean beauty so popular?
According to the BBC, beauty is big business in South Korea, with some figures believing that good skincare has become “ingrained in Korean culture”. Korean beauty’s popularity stems from its formulas that use unique ingredients, often focused on hydration and skin health.
Some popular products use natural ingredients rarely used in Western beauty, such as snail mucin, ginseng, and fermented extracts, which all boast specific benefits. Most products offer a gentle, holistic, routine-based approach that blends ancient wisdom with modern science, appealing to people seeking effective results.
Online platforms, such as beauty influencers on TikTok and Instagram, are another significant reason behind the global success of this beauty branch. People from around the world are being connected to the idea of incorporating these products into their daily routines after some earn viral success.
