As a fashion writer, M&S is one of the high street retailers I look forward to checking out each season. Known for its quality basics and on-trend pieces, Marks and Spencer has a whole host of spring designs perfect for everything from weekend plans to office days.
Now, the retailer has launched its new Autograph Collection which features staple denim and light new season jackets through to chic going out pieces that are perfect for evening plans or summer events. Elsewhere on the high street, River Island’s new collection boasts plenty of summery white, broderie and crochet buys ideal for holiday season.
At H&M, there’s a whole section of new in Boho Luxe pieces to shop that includes everything from floaty dresses and skirts through to ruffle skorts and co-ords. Back to M&S, and we’ve rounded up some of our favourite finds from the new Autograph Collection, but shoppers may need to be quick, as we can’t see these hanging around for long.
Pure Ramie Godet Cami Top – £55
This stunning dusty pink cami is the perfect ‘jeans and a nice top’ outfit. Boasting a flattering fit that flares out around the tummy, it looks both stylish and comfortable.
Available in UK sizes 6-18, it’s just landed on site but we imagine it’ll sell fast. Boasting a 100% ramie and cotton material, it should feel relatively breathable in warmer weather, but it is worth noting it cannot be tumble dried so may not prove the most practical option for some.

Pure Cotton Ruched Asymmetrical Top – £30
Made from a comfy pure cotton material, this chic top gives the wow factor to denim or wide leg trousers. Versatile, it can also be worn with maxi or mini skirts, putting a modern twist on a classic design.
It’s no surprise it’s already sold out in UK sizes 6 and 24, so those who wish to nab it may want to move fast. It does need to be washed on a delicate cycle or dry cleaned, but in our opinion it’s a piece that’s worth taking extra care of.
Pure Ramie Godet Waisted Maxi Dress – £110
Already sold out in some sizes, this pure ramie waisted maxi dress is one of the stars of the show. Perfect for summer weddings and events, it could also be styled easily into a chic evening look for holidays.
Boasting a feminine waisted shape, it features a godet detailing that helps to give the bottom part movement as the wearer walks. At £110, it is certainly an investment piece, but we reckon it looks more premium than its price tag.
Acetate Oversized Preppy Sunglasses – £36
A decent pair of sunnies instantly makes an outfit look cooler, and we love the look of these £36 oversized ones. Featuring a statement animal print design, they can be worn with dressier looks as well as everyday outfits.
Naturally, some may find the larger frames a little overbearing, but we love them for hiding tired or hungover eyes.
Floral Embroidered Cami Top – £50
This floral cami top would look perfect styled with white denim and ballet flats or sandals. The look could instantly be made more evening appropriate by swapping out the flats for kitten heel mules, making the top a hard-working addition to any spring wardrobe.
Those who like to wear a bra with their outfits may find it’s harder to conceal thanks to the skinny straps, but we like that they’re adjustable to help achieve the perfect fit. There’s also matching trousers available for £75 too for those who like a co-ord.
High Waisted Wide Leg Jeans – £55
A classic investment piece for spring, these high-waisted wide leg jeans are perfect for teaming with all manner of tops, from dressier pieces through to basic vests and t-shirts.
While many of M&S’ denim pieces come in different lengths, one downside is that this option only comes in one. Despite this, we reckon they’ll be flying off the virtual shelves thanks to their stylish wide-leg shape and flattering high waistline.
Cotton Rich Sparkly Waffle Tank Top – £26
A tank top is a summer essential for many, and this sparkly option is a great alternative to classic white or black. Ideal for teaming with white jeans or wide leg trousers, it looks dressier than its more toned-down neutral counterparts.
We’d style with stacked bangles and gold jewellery for maximum impact. It must be washed on a delicate setting and cannot be tumble dried, but the vest is made from a 91% cotton material to help keep wearers comfy as sunnier days arrive.
Pure Linen Tailored Shorts – £70
Those who like longer shorts are in luck, as this smart tailored pair are a great alternative to longer trousers on hot days. Add heels to elevate the look or wear with sandals or ballet flats for a comfy yet chic everyday outfit.
Sadly, these shorts are only available in one length meaning more petite or taller shoppers may find they can’t secure their perfect fit, however we think they’re a classic yet versatile addition to a new season wardrobe for those who can. Fashion lovers who want a complete outfit may also wish to consider the timeless matching blazer for £120.
