Nationwide has said it intends to distribute £100 payments again this year
Millions of Nationwide members are hoping to receive a free £100 payment later in 2026.
This follows the world’s largest building society issuing what it terms “Fairer Share” payments in 2023, 2024, and once more in 2025. In each of those years, specific eligibility requirements had to be met. According to Nationwide’s website: “If you bank as well as save or have a mortgage with us, you could benefit from our Fairer Share Payments. Some members have received £300 in Fairer Share Payments since 2023.
“It’s our intention to make a payment every year, but this will depend on how we perform financially. We may change the amount and the eligibility criteria based on that performance.”
When might Nationwide announce a Fairer Share payment in 2026?
While the precise date of Nationwide’s formal announcement concerning the payments remains unclear, previous years offer a useful indicator. Last year, Nationwide confirmed its Fairer Share payment on May 29.
The £100 amounts subsequently arrived in eligible members’ accounts between June 18 and July 4. Likewise, in 2024, the payment was revealed on May 22, with funds transferred between June 13 and June 28.
In 2023, Nationwide launched its inaugural Fairer Share payments on May 19, with the money reaching bank accounts between June 13 and June 30. It appears probable, therefore, that any announcement concerning 2026 will be made next month.
If any Fairer Share payments are issued this year, the money is expected to land in June.
