A 26-year-old has been stabbed to death and two other victims are fighting for their lives in hospital after a stabbing in Peckham, London with a murder investigation launched

A man has been stabbed to death in London and two more are fighting for their lives with police launching a murder investigation.

The incident happened just before 4am this morning (Monday, April 6) on Ruby Street, following what police have described as a ‘disturbance’ outside of a nightclub.

The 26-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and his next-of-kin are aware.

A further two other victims, both in their 20s, were found injured at the scene and are both fighting for their lives in hospital. The nature of their injuries have not been shared by the police.

Four men, 18 and three aged 24, were arrested earlier on suspicion of murder and remain in custody on Monday afternoon.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John says the investigation “continues at pace”. He said: “This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this difficult time. We have already arrested four men and our investigation continues at pace.

“We are aware of the concern that this will cause the local community and those in the area will notice an increased police presence throughout the day.

“This assault occurred outside a busy nightclub, and we’d encourage anyone who has any information, dashcam or mobile phone footage which could support the investigation to contact us.”

The full statement from the Metropolitan Police read: “The Met was called at 03:54hrs on Monday, 6 April to reports of disturbance involving a group of people outside a nightclub in Ruby Street.

“Upon arrival, officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service found a 26-year-old man with stab wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man died at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“Two other men in their 20s were also found injured at the scene. They both remain in hospital in a life-threatening condition. Four men, one aged 18 and three aged 24, were arrested later on Monday, 6 April on suspicion of murder. They all remain in custody.”

Anyone with information or footage is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 1033/6APR, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
