A man remains in a critical condition after falling from a bridge onto the M6 at Charnock Richard where he was struck by a HGV and car. Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses
A man is fighting for his life after plunging from a motorway bridge and being struck by both a lorry and a car.
Officers were called to junction 27 of the M6 at Charnock Richard at approximately 9.35pm on Friday, 3 April, following reports that a man had fallen from a bridge onto the southbound carriageway, where he was hit by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and then a Vauxhall Adam.
The man was rushed to hospital, where he remained in a critical condition as of yesterday morning, 4 April. Both the HGV driver and the Vauxhall driver stopped at the scene. Lancashire Police confirmed that no arrests have been made, and both drivers are being treated as witnesses.

The force also revealed it has voluntarily referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), owing to having had contact with the man earlier that day. Officers shut the motorway in both directions, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The man is described as being in a life-threatening condition, and police are now urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
Sgt Joe Calvert, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “As a result of this incident, a man is currently in hospital in a life-threatening condition. Our thoughts are with him and his loved ones at this time. If you were driving in the area at the time and saw anything which could help our investigation or have dashcam footage, please contact the police as soon as possible.”
