‘For me, the real winner has to be Coole Swan, thanks in most part to its smoothness, which can’t be beaten’
A premium Irish cream liqueur is turning heads this spring, with some customers preferring it to more well-known brands. Now priced at just £20 for a limited time, Coole Swan is gaining attention as more shoppers look to upgrade their go to after dinner drink ahead of occasions like Easter.
Over at Tesco, Clubcard members can purchase Coole Swan’s Irish Cream Liqueur for £20, while non-members can buy it for £26.50. While traditional options continue to dominate shelves, this award-winning alternative is quickly building a loyal following as it is said to be offering a lighter, smoother take on Irish cream liqueurs.
The Coole Swan Irish Cream Liqueur is made using just three all-natural ingredients: Irish whiskey, real Belgian white chocolate and fresh Irish cream, creating a smooth, indulgent drink with a clean, balanced taste. Blended in Co. Cavan, Ireland, each batch is carefully crafted to deliver a rich yet not overly sweet flavour, perfect for sipping over ice or mixing into cocktails. Developed over 231 attempts to perfect the recipe, the liqueur combines soft Irish whiskey with silky white chocolate and fresh cream for a distinctive, velvety finish.
Its all-natural composition means it should be kept in the fridge once opened, highlighting its freshness compared to longer-lasting alternatives. Packaged in a 700ml bottle, it’s designed to be enjoyed in cocktails, or on its own over ice.
If this isn’t the one for everyone, Masters of Malt has The Whistler Irish Cream for £28. This 70cl bottle comes from Irish distillery Boann, and contains fresh cream for a silky taste.
Coole Swan is available on Coole Swan.

Amazon also has a 1L bottle Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur for £14. It’s described as ‘ the sweetest meeting of fine Irish whiskey and spirits, Irish dairy cream, rich chocolate and vanilla flavours’, and is a number one bestseller in liqueurs on Amazon, with over 7000 bought in the last month.
Coole Swan has been rated highly by customers, with Jessica Brunt, Senior Multimedia Writer wrote at Wales Online, leaving her review of the drink. “Coole Swan has a silky smooth texture I’ve not had before with other Irish creams,” she said.
“There’s a delicate hint of chocolate in both smell and taste (though this is not a chocolate-flavoured drink as such – it’s very subtle). This may be a downside for some, but I loved that it wasn’t sickly and still felt like a drink rather than a full-on dessert. The alcohol content is 16% by volume, a little less than Baileys and Aldi’s offering. Coole Swan also feels less overpowering than other options on the market. The taste is consistent throughout without that alcohol ‘hit’ some others give at the end.”
She concluded: “Overall, whilst I was initially sceptical about whether Coole Swan could be worth the extra money, I can certainly say it is. For me, it felt less sickly and filling than the Baileys and Aldi’s Irish Cream, and neither of the other options could compete when it came to texture. For me, the real winner has to be Coole Swan, thanks in most part to its smoothness, which can’t be beaten.”
On Amazon, another shopper said: “Really creamy, quite strong but lovely flavour. Recommend.”
Some did remove a star and said: “Nice but too sweet for me, drinkable for some people.” Another added: “It was alright. Not as pleasant as I’d hoped for in terms of flavour and consistency. If the price was a little bit less it’d be a good alternative to higher price options there may be out there.”
Overall, most people were pleased, with one customer writing: “Better than Baileys. Coole Swan is a refreshing “coole” cream liqueur when drunk on its own or with ice.”
Coole Swan’s Irish Cream Liqueur is currently £20 for Clubcard members at Tesco.
