One mum has revealed how she made £550 cashback over the past year – just by doing her regular shops.
Emily Booth, 37, from Enderby in Leicestershire, started using the cashback app tuck. after looking for a way to make money back on purchases she was already making.
tuck. is a cashback app that lets people get money back on everyday spending. It works by letting you buy gift cards for your favourite retailers, with a cashback rate applied.
For example, you can currently buy a £50 voucher to spend at Asda and tuck. will then give you £2 back into your account. You can then transfer the cashback to your bank account.
The gift cards work like any standard retailer gift card, so if your shop comes to £48, the remaining £2 balance just stays on the card and you can use it next time.
The app offers cashback with more than 200 retailers, including major supermarkets as well as popular brands across fashion, food and drink, homeware, and dining.
Emily, who lives with her husband, two children, two cats and two rabbits, has used tuck. to get cashback at places such as Sainsbury’s, Costa, Argos, IKEA, B&M, New Look, and Prezzo.
She typically spends between £100 and £200 per week on groceries, earning an average of £3.50 to £5 in cashback each week on her regular shopping, which increases when she buys any extras.
Emily has earned £553.07 in cashback last year alone. Her largest purchase saw Emily put £800 onto an IKEA gift card when moving house – this came with 6% cashback, so earning her £48.
She said: “I started using tuck. to try and save money on spending I was already doing, and it’s honestly become part of my routine now.
“It’s so easy to use; I can just buy a gift card and get cashback right before I pay at the till. I used other apps before, but tuck. is much quicker and more convenient. I still sometimes stack it with other offers, but this is the one I use every time I shop.”
Emily now checks the app before making any purchase and even turns it into a weekly habit with her children. The app has also changed how she approaches spending.
She said: “If I can’t get cashback somewhere, it definitely makes me think twice. My aim now is to never pay full price if I can avoid it by using cashback and discounts.”
Emily saves her cashback and withdraws it monthly into a savings account where it earns interest. She said: “I save my cashback throughout the year to pay for Christmas – my target is £500. Once I hit that, I start putting it towards holiday spending money.”
There is a processing fee of 30p when withdrawing cashback. However, users can avoid this by withdrawing their balance as a gift card instead.
Neel Thakrar, CEO of tuck., said: “Emily’s story is a brilliant example of how small, consistent savings can turn into something really meaningful. She hasn’t changed what she buys or where she shops – she’s simply made cashback part of her everyday routine.
“What stands out is how she’s used those rewards with clear goals in mind, from covering Christmas costs to building up holiday spending money. That’s exactly what tuck. is designed to do – help people make the most of the money they’re already spending.
“For many families, those extra costs throughout the year can add up quickly. Being able to offset them with cashback earned little and often can make a real difference, and Emily’s experience shows just how powerful that can be over time.”
