Chief Inspector tells of ‘shocking act of violence’
Chief Inspector Ian Partington, from Greater Manchester Police, has called the incident a “shocking act of violence”.
He said: “This was a shocking incident of violence, and our thoughts remain with the victim at this incredibly difficult time.
“I would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are taken extremely seriously and our officers are currently exhausting all lines of enquiry to locate the suspect.
“We understand this is a concerning incident, and we have extra patrols in the area following this incident. I encourage anyone with concerns to please speak with our officers who are there to support.
“A scene remains in place and our officers have worked through the night to conduct their investigation. I urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone from the area at the time to please report to us.”
