Bobbie Goodman plunged around 40ft to the ground after Jordan Herring attacked her in his mother’s high-rise flat in Solihull, West Midlands, and spent one month in intensive care
A young woman has spoken of the terrifying moment her then boyfriend threw her out of a fourth-floor window in a jealous rage.
Bobbie Goodman was lucky to survive after Jordan Herring attacked her in his mother’s high-rise flat. He then lied to the police, claiming then 18-year-old Bobbie had jumped from the window at the property in Merton House in Solihull, West Midlands.
Harrowing CCTV footage captured the moment Bobbie plummeted onto a grass verge, after which she was rushed to hospital and treated for a collapsed lung, shattered pelvis, broken ribs and a smashed spine among other injuries. Bobbie spent one month in intensive care and several more in a wheelchair.
Herring, 22, was recently found guilty of GBH but cleared of attempted murder following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court. The violent thug will be sentenced at the same court next month.

Following the conviction, Bobbie, who has been forced to wait more than three years for justice, said: “I remember him hanging my head out of the window and saying to me: ‘I’ll throw you out. I will kill you.’ That’s the only thing I remember from the night. We had been arguing that night.
“He was very jealous and was always wrongly accusing me of cheating. I woke up in hospital, I was very confused to as why I was there. I was finally told I had fallen but Jordan was lying to everyone and told the police I’d jumped. I knew I hadn’t jumped but I was in a nightmare because I felt like I wasn’t being believed and his friends and family were calling me a liar.”
Bobbie, now 21, continues to recover from her physical and mental injuries. She has struggled to sleep due to the collapsed lung. Herring casually strolled down the stairs and picked Bobbie up as she lay bleeding and unconscious on the ground before taking her back up to his mum’s flat, jurors had been told.
The court heard it was another hour before his mum Kerrie-Anne Grogan finally called 999 just after midnight. In the call, she told the operator: “I couldn’t call the ambulance I should’ve done it ages ago but he’s my son. I’m scared he’s gonna get a knife and kill her.”
Herring was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and was remanded into custody. Due to a backlog of cases following Covid, Herring was only convicted on January 30 this year – some 1,175 days after his arrest.
He has also been found guilty of coercive and controlling behaviour towards Bobbie at an earlier trial. Bobbie, from Solihull, said delays in bringing the cases had prolonged her trauma.
She said: “I have found the whole experience very dehumanising. I couldn’t move, couldn’t walk, couldn’t wash myself. I really thought I might never walk again. Even though it happened three years ago I still have a lot of hatred for this man. He’s ruined my life in so many ways. Even after all this time I don’t think I’ll trust another man ever again. But I hope someday, I will.”
Bobbie is speaking out in the hope of inspiring women to escape “toxic” relationships. She said: “We first met at school but had officially got together a few months before he threw me out the window.
“There were definitely signs of controlling and coercive behaviour at the start of our relationship that I didn’t really take on board because it wasn’t physical. Looking back now I can see the signs of how he was trying to control me and keep me away from my family and things like that.
“He would take my phone off me and accuse me of cheating on him multiple times. Every time he did something he’d apologise and said he loved me and I believed him but I was actually in a very toxic relationship.”
Bobbie still walks with three metal pins in her hip and has memory lapses but is now working as a bartender at Birmingham Airport. She said the last three years had been a “constant struggle” both in her recovery and her fight for justice.
She added: “My physical injuries were very horrific but my mental trauma has been just as bad. Considering I’d never broken a bone in my life before, for it to all happen all at once, it was a lot to deal with.
“I wasn’t able to walk for a good two or three months and because my ribs were broken and I punctured both lungs I wasn’t able to sleep on my side. The wait for justice has been a constant struggle. There were delays in bringing charges and taking him to court.
“It went on and on and I was losing hope. Now he has been convicted is a relief. I am disappointed he was cleared of attempted murder but he was convicted of GBH.
“I have been told he will probably get no more than three or four years for what he has done to me which doesn’t seem fair. I just want to see him jailed for what he has done to me and hopefully I can get on with my life.”
