Shoppers are being urged to stop using these items immediately due to potential safety risks
This month has seen a flurry of urgent product recalls issued. Customers are being warned to immediately stop using these items due to potential safety hazards.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has updated its recall list this month, featuring celebrity fragrances, kids’ toys, beauty gadgets and more. Various items contain hazardous substances, asbestos traces, or fail to comply with UK safety regulations.
Below is a full breakdown of everything recalled in March and the steps to take if you’ve purchased them.
Rihanna fragrances
Three Rihanna scents available at Savers Health and Beauty have been urgently recalled. They present a ‘serious chemical risk’ as they contain butylphenyl methylpropional (BMHCA/lilial) and/or hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde, reports the Express.
Both substances are prohibited in cosmetic goods. BMHCA may damage the reproductive system, may compromise the wellbeing of an unborn baby, and may trigger skin reactions.
The impacted products are:
- Rihanna Kiss 15ml EDP – 0608940572252
- Rihanna Riri 15ml EDP – 0608940560389
- Rihanna Rogue 15ml EDP – 0608940559437
If you’ve purchased any of these, stop using them straight away. Take them back to your point of purchase for a refund.
Air fryers
Multiple Tower air fryer models have been recalled, which are stocked at retailers including Sainsbury’s, Lidl, Robert Dyas, B&M, Poundland, Tesco and the Tower website.
They present a fire hazard as they can overheat and catch alight whilst in operation, and they fail to meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
The impacted products are:
- T17023 Tower 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer
- T17061BLK Tower 4Ltr Manual Air Fryer

If you’ve purchased any of these items, unplug them immediately and contact the retailer for a refund.
Sand toys
A selection of stretchy sand-filled toys have been recalled due to potential asbestos contamination. These products were available at Matalan, Hobbycraft, The Entertainer, Tesco and additional retailers.
The impacted items and their barcodes are:

Stop using these items immediately and ensure they’re kept well away from kids. If the sand remains in its original packaging, place it inside a heavy-duty plastic bag, seal it securely with double tape, label it clearly and store in a safe spot out of children’s reach.
If the sand has already been opened, clean any areas where the product was handled using damp cloths to prevent dust creation. Wear protective gloves and a face covering.
Double bag the sand, gloves, face covering and cloths. Keep youngsters and others away from locations where the sand has been handled until thoroughly cleaned.
Bin the product with your regular household rubbish, or take back to the shop where indicated by the retailer, who will issue a complete refund.
