Charlie was alone when an intruder jumped a fence and allegedly committed a vile act on the defenceless creature – with the act caught on camera
A woman is appealing for help to find the “monster” who “sexually violated” her horse. Julie Bonner is concerned the unidentified man, who was captured on CCTV performing an alleged sex act on her horse and is still on the loose, could go on to attack women or children.
The 44-year-old’s horse, Charlie, was alone at Pheasant Stables in Rainham, Kent, when an intruder jumped a fence and allegedly committed bestiality. With the act caught on camera, police were contacted immediately, and an investigation was launched. However, there has been no luck in finding the suspect.
Ms Bonner said: “Charlie, unfortunately, was in a restricted area. He just looked quite frozen. At one point, he turned around and looked confused. The man was bent down with him and had his hands in that area.”
Ms Bonner, who is a carer for her mum, said the same man was spotted on footage the night before “hugging” Charlie and stroking him, leading the horse owner to wonder if the suspect had been in the stables multiple times before.
She added: “It’s very upsetting. He’s violated my horse. We’re concerned the guy could go on to attack women or children. That’s why I put a Facebook post out asking for help. Every time I spoke about it before, I cried. But it needs to be out there to find this man.
“It was all very traumatic and upsetting. Everyone was upset that somebody could actually do this to an innocent horse that hasn’t done anything wrong.”
Ms Bonner bought Charlie after a period of ill health seven years ago. The pair have since moved stables after the incident, which happened at around 11pm on February 13 last year.
“I did try to stay there, but I just felt it used to be our happy place and I could go and see Charlie and it just wasn’t anymore after that incident,” Ms Bonner explained. Since appealing to social media, the former nanny says she has had people from around the county come forward and report similar incidents over the past couple of years.
Asked what she would say to the man, Ms Bonner said: “Whichever monster has done this to Charlie, I feel like you should definitely turn yourself in. And if you’re involved with someone who has something to do with this, they should all turn themselves in.
“Because you’ve gone on the property, you’ve violated my horse, and I feel like you are a danger to the community and to other horses.”
A police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called to reports of a man engaging in inappropriate sexual behaviour near Lower Rainham Road, Rainham. Officers attended, and a thorough investigation was completed, including CCTV reviews, house-to-house inquiries and forensic analysis.”
