The supermarket has issued an urgent recall for three items
Asda has issued urgent recall notices for bestselling products this week. The supermarket chain is urging shoppers who bought the Hapello Power Train, Stretcherz Stretch Squad Assortment, or Slammerz Assortment Toys to bring the items back to store for a complete refund.
The Hapello Power Train has been pulled from sale over choking risks for young children, whilst the Stretcherz Stretch Squad Assortment could potentially be contaminated with asbestos – a cancer-causing substance.
Customers are encouraged to return the products to Asda or get in touch with the retailer’s customer services team if they’re unable to make it to their nearest store. Anyone returning the affected goods will receive their money back in full.

Both the Slammerz and Stretcherz ranges have been withdrawn amid fears they may harbour asbestos – a prohibited material due to it being a recognised carcinogen that presents significant health dangers, even with minimal exposure.
The products have now been taken off shop floors and recalled by Asda, whilst the Office for Product Safety and Standards has cautioned that other retailers might have stocked these toys, with further advice set to follow imminently.
In its recall announcement, Asda stated: “Testing has shown that the sand-like material inside some products may contain trace levels of asbestos. The overall risk is considered low, but because asbestos should not be present in any amount, we are recalling the affected items as a precaution.
“While we have received no reports of harm, we are taking this action out of an abundance of caution and in line with our commitment to the highest standards of safety and quality.”
Customers are advised to bring back the products at their earliest convenience for a complete refund.

The Hapello Power Train has been withdrawn from sale because it presents a choking hazard. Asda explained: “We have found that in some cases this product may release the orange steam dome from the top of the train, which could pose as a small part choking hazard. We have taken the decision to recall the product.”
Anyone who bought the toy has been asked to take it back to their local Asda store. The retailer confirmed: “If you have purchased the Hapello Power Train, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund.”
“You do not need your receipt. The product was sold between 2024 and 2026. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer Relations on 0330 053 0111. “
