The clip, shared on social media, shows the Brit tourist smashing up numerous self-check-in kiosks in the departure hall at Hong Kong International Airport before cops arrested him

A British tourist has allegedly been caught on camera in an airport rampage, smashing up numerous self-check-in kiosks before being arrested by police.

In a video posted on Facebook, a man, described in local reports as a 35-year-old British tourist, can be seen pushing over the kiosks in the departure hall at Hong Kong International Airport on February 16.

The man can then be seen to grab a metal pole before lifting it over his head and smashing it into one of the fallen kiosks as fellow travellers look on in horror.

The incident occurred at around 6am, with the man reportedly smashing up around 10 self-check-in kiosks, some railings, and nearby counters at the airport’s Terminal 1, the Hong Kong Free Press reports.

Staff and security personnel rushed to the scene and “warned the man to stop causing further damage,” a spokesperson told the news outlet.

The man, a 35-year-old British tourist, was arrested for criminal damage following his airport rampage.

He was also arrested under suspicion of possession of “Part 1” poison, after four Viagra pills were found in his backpack, Hong Kong Free Press reported.

Possessing Viagra without a prescription is illegal in Hong Kong, and those found guilty could face up to two years’ imprisonment and HK$100,000 (£9,390) fine.

The Mirror has contacted Hong Kong International Airport for a comment.
