The planner shared how couples can save money when they’re organising their special day
A wedding planner has shared two ways couples can save money on their big day. Oliver Stanton, a wedding planner and on the day coordinator, often shares tips for couples on his TikTok account @oliverstantonweddings.
In one of his videos, Oliver claimed couples could ‘easily’ save thousands on their wedding by making a few changes. He explained: “There is quite an easy way to save a few grand on your wedding, and I recognise this isn’t for everybody, but it is something that I would do myself, and that is to have a weekday wedding.”
The wedding planner told viewers: “You can have the same venue, same food, same suppliers, but it’ll just be a few grand cheaper. And it’s easy for me to say because I’m a freelancer, a lot of my friends and family are freelancers, so days of the week don’t matter so much, but I urge you to just at least consider it.”
He also shared another tip for money-savvy couples looking to save their budget. Oliver said: “The other big way is to get married in the off-season, so November to March. And personally, that’s not for me because I love the warmer weather, I love the longer days.
“So I would much rather get married on a Wednesday in June to save some money, rather than a Saturday in November.” The video proved popular with viewers, gaining 14k likes.
In response to the video, several commenters said the tip had helped them to save thousands of pounds. Replying to the post, one viewer said: “I got married on a Thursday and saved nine grand!! Nine THOUSAND POUND!!! and not for all the bits, just the venue!!!!”
A second comment read: “We’re getting married on a Monday, saved thousands.” A third viewer shared: “Yup getting married on a Thursday in August and saving a fortune! Along with the cheaper package there are also no minimum numbers. So we’re saving so much!”
A fourth commented: “I get married on a Thursday this year – loads of guests are staying over for the weekend in the Lake District and making a weekend of it!” Another fan of the idea shared: “We’re getting married first weekend in October this year and saved £3K on venue alone just by having it on the Friday instead of the Saturday!”
Meanwhile, a social media user replied: “My cousin got married on a Monday, it saved her fortune. She paid everyone’s accommodation on the night of the wedding and we all paid for our own the night before. She gave everyone lots of notice that they would need two days off work and everyone she invited came.”
Sharing another tip, someone else revealed: “I’m having a Thursday twilight wedding. Ceremony 4pm. Cutting out the wedding breakfast saving thousands!!”
Someone else said: “We’re having a last minute weekday wedding and I’ve found you have so much more choice with suppliers because they are more likely to not be booked up on a weekday.”
