The savvy shoppers claimed people can leave this ‘effortless’ tablet to work its magic overnight
People could save money and time by using an ‘effortless’ bathroom trick shared by an ITV cleaning star. It involves using one cheap product that costs just under £1 at Home Bargains – and it is nowhere near the cleaning supplies in most stores, and instead can be found near toothpastes and toothbrushes.
Lynsey Crombie, who sometimes appears on ITV’s This Morning with cleaning tips and tricks, shared her ‘effortless’ way to clean one of the most-used items in many UK houses. Cleaning the toilet can be unpleasant, but it’s essential to keep it hygienic for others to use.
Filmed in a Home Bargains store, Lynsey showed that a cheap 99p item could help keep things fresher than pricy toilet blocks. She said: “This is one of my favourite [tips], swap those toilet blocks for denture tablets. Just drop one in the bowl overnight, and it will help break down limescale and hard water build-up effortlessly.”
In the video, she showed a pack of 99p Steradent tablets. These are also available to buy online in a multi-pack at Home Bargains for £1.98, offering 60 tablets in total.
The self-appointed ‘Queen of Clean’, Lynsey shared some more tips whilst shopping at the popular bargain retailer that would save people time, money and effort when it comes to keeping on top of household chores. She went on to recommend a few other products.
She said: “Magnetic dusters can be great, but a reusable duster can be washed and is better for your pocket and the planet. Also, you don’t always need a different cleaner for every room.
“A good multi-purpose spray can handle both your bathroom and kitchen surfaces, saving you space and money. I know we all love buying new sponges, me included, but the ones you already have can last ages if you look after them.
“Give them a clean regularly with a nice disinfectant soak [in a bowl of water] a few times a week to keep them fresh. And, when it comes to furniture polish, it’s not always essential – a damp microfibre cloth will lift dust and leave a lovely natural shine without any extra product.”
With time a rare luxury for Brits with busy lives, the time spent cleaning can take away something that is already quite rare. So, most people welcome the idea of cutting down on the time and effort required for household tasks that cannot be ignored.
One tip was recently reported to quickly clean a common kitchen appliance of grease and grime “better than any other product”. Most homes in the UK have an air fryer in their kitchens for quicker cooking, but these devices can get messy fast, with bits of food and oil a pain to clean out.
Cleaning influencer Jen, who posts under the account @Cleanwithjen, shared online that she gets her greasy, grimy air fryer looking “brand new” by dousing a dishwasher tablet in boiling water from the kettle. The social media user let this sit for 20 minutes, then rinsed with clean water, leaving just a quick wipe to tackle what was left behind.
