Fire breaks out in heart of Huddersfield, Yorks
Firefighters are currently on the scene of a major building fire in central Huddersfield, with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) confirming a fire has broken out in the basement of a four-storey property on John William Street.
The building also houses a ground-floor restaurant with and accomodation above, beleived to be residential flats. As a result, crews are now racing to prevent the fire from spreading to both the business and homes.
Teams have so far deployed eight breathing apparatuses, four hose reels, and a large jet hose in an attempt to combat the flames, WYFRS said.
