Both coats feature a similar look, though one is significantly lower in price
Aldi is set to start selling a new winter coat for women that not only comes with an affordable price tag, but could easily rival a more expensive high-end version that looks similar. As part of its latest range of SpecialBuy items, the budget supermarket is about to introduce several new clothing items.
From Sunday, February 1, Aldi will update its middle aisle across stores nationwide to welcome a new batch of fashion pieces. Each item is designed for comfort and warmth, and is branded as a useful thing to wear when going on a cold winter’s day walk or hike.
The new range includes ‘all weather ‘ trainers and more sporty options, as well as fleece-lined jackets, trekking boots and cargo trousers. One particular item that stands out from the range however, is Aldi’s new Long Line Quilted Coat.
The woman’s coat costs £19.99 and could easily remind shoppers of a high-end version found at New Look. The high-street fashion brand has a Dare 2b Black Distinguish Long Padded Jacket on its website for £105.
It is currently out of stock, so New Look shoppers will have to wait until stock is replenished. But, in the meantime, they can get the same coat from Amazon for a slightly lower price of £98.
Aldi’s £20 quilted coat is made from 100% polyester and is water repellent and wind resistant. Sizes include 8/10, 12/14 and 16/18 for women. Men’s sizes vary from medium to extra large.
Describing the coat, Aldi says: “Stay warm and stylish with this longline quilted coat. Softly insulated, which is perfect for chilly days.” Aldi’s coat features a front zip, side pockets and an adjustable hood. There are press studs on either side as well that can be tightened or loosened depending on how much of a fitted look is required.
New Look’s Dare 2b Black Distinguish Long Padded Jacket, which arguably looks similar to Aldi’s new £20 option, costs more at £105. Meaning Aldi shoppers could save £85 on a cheaper option that has ‘lookalike’ appeal.
A description of the coat reads: “Dare 2b is an activewear brand serving technical and sports essentials. For outdoor adventures, you’ll find practical styles to help you go the extra mile.”
Similar to Aldi, the coat is 100% polyester, comes in black, features a hood, long sleeves, side snap buttons and a zip front. It is also water repellent. In the reviews on New Look, one shopper said: “Love everything about this coat it’s warm it’s trendy it’s stylish it fits ! Amazing.”
Someone else said: “I am so pleased with my coat. This was purchased in the sale so a bargain. Very good quality, stylish, practical and above all warm is this colder weather.” Another wrote: “Comfy coat with good protection from the cold. Got this for a very good price and I’m happy with the purchase!”
